šŸŒˆCelebrating Pride Month: After School Matters’ Commitment to Safe and Supportive Spaces for TeensĀ

This June we are celebrating Pride Month. Since our founding in 1991, we have been dedicated to creating safe spaces where every teen can find their unique voice and identity, and embrace their true, authentic selves.Ā

We strive to ensure that every young person participating in our programs feels seen, heard, and valued. We understand that adolescence is a critical time for self-discovery, and we aim to offer a nurturing environment where teens can explore their identities without fear of judgment or discrimination.Ā

ā€œASM has always been a safe space. The people are kind and very caring. I love working in their programs because itā€™s given me an opportunity to be myself while meeting others.ā€ shared ASM teen Dominque W.Ā

Our programs are designed to foster creativity, build confidence, and encourage personal growth. Whether through the arts, communication and leadership, sports, or STEM, we provide young people opportunities to express themselves and connect with others who share their interests. This inclusive approach helps our teens develop a strong sense of self and a deep appreciation for diversity.Ā

In celebrating Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to LGBTQ+ youth and all our participants. We recognize the unique challenges they may face and are dedicated to offering resources and support to help them navigate these experiences. Our staff and instructors are trained to create welcoming environments where every teen feels safe to be who they are.Ā

Join us in celebrating Pride Month and our commitment to providing safe, supportive spaces for all teens. Together, we can create a world where every young person feels free to be their true, authentic selves.
