Tony Diaz, After School Matters’ Chief Program Officer, and Jamari Coleman, an ASM Peacemaker teen, recently participated on a WTTW Chicago Tonight panel with Deputy Mayor of Education Jen Johnson.
Together, they discussed job and program opportunities available to teens, the positive impact these experiences have on young people, and the connection between employing teens and keeping Chicago safe.
“My Peacemaker program gave me an opportunity to get out of my house, meet new people, and learn from a great instructor and mentor like Johnny Dorsey. I’ve learned to be a humbler person and how to have more self-control in my program.” said Jamari Coleman, ASM Peacemaker teen.
