After School Matters Teens Shine at Final Fall Showcases

As we wrapped up our Fall program session, After School Matters teens put on numerous final showcases across the city. These events allow young people to share their hard work, skills, and incredible achievements over the past ten weeks with their friends, families, and communities. Read on for spotlights of our three ASM teen-dedicated spaces’ final showcases: The Lutz Center, Gallery 37 for the Arts, and Gately Park.

In Belmont Cragin, the Michael and Karyn Lutz Center Showcase kicked off the week-long celebration and was a massive success with 380 people in attendance! The event featured engaging activities, including empanada making, a hands-on martial arts presentation, a fashion show, Latin dance performances, screen printing t-shirts, and incredible tunes compliments of the band program. It was a night filled with talent, creativity, and community spirit.

The Gallery 37 Downtown Showcase lit up the Chicago Cultural Center with more than 200 attendees! Talented teens impressed friends, families, ASM staff, and their instructors with impressive displays of all their hard work this session. There were remarkable live performances from teen soloists Grace L. and Naomi H., engaging science demonstrations about gardening and space, and some truly unique art pieces.

More than 200 guests came to experience the magic of Gately Park’s Final Showcase in Pullman! The stage came alive as the Les Enfants Dance program wowed the crowd with a gospel-inspired dance, later joining forces with Dance 4 Our Lives for an enchanting performance. The Mix Master DJ 101 program set the perfect vibe with a stellar music selection, while the Culinary Arts program brought a unique twist to chicken and waffles. There was a gallery walk, original skits, and many more beautiful moments.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our teens!
