High school graduation is an important moment in a teen’s life, filled with both dreams and uncertainty about the future. For many, the path beyond high school remains unclear, but After School Matters is helping young people figure out their next steps by providing teens with programs that can set them up with a career directly after high school.
ASM offers a diverse range of programs that cater to a variety of interests, from aviation to welding, from culinary arts to graphic design. These opportunities provide teenagers with hands-on experiences and skills they can apply to college or to a career right after graduation. By participating in these programs, young people discover their talents and passions, helping them make informed decisions about their future careers.
Jonathan Hernandez was interested in a career in aviation and joined ASM’s aviation program at Phoenix STEM Military Academy, learning it could help him become a drone aviation pilot. Jonathan recently passed his FAA drone certification test and is now a licensed FAA drone pilot, meaning he can find a job even before graduating high school.
Through these opportunities, teens are able to work in professional environments alongside instructors who are experts in their chosen fields. This hands-on experience not only enhances their skillset but also provides valuable networking opportunities and connections to lifelong mentors.
The skills, experiences, and connections teens garner through their ASM programs can shape a brighter future for our young people, ensuring they are well-equipped to face the challenges of college, a career, and adulthood.
